Without salt

Most of us are aware that the salt is unhealthy, but on the other hand, can not imagine eating dinner, in which was not used salt in the preparation. Such a dish becomes for us unattractive and barren, just tasteless. So how do we combine pleasure with no salt? How to make a tasty dish, but also healthy?

Salt, the oldest spice in the world, and for most of us is the most important substance that gives flavor to dishes. We use it for meat dishes, sauces, flour and vegetable dishes. Often, we add it to the cottage cheese and vegetables with sandwich. Due to its characteristics have long been used as salt for preserving food. Nowadays, food preservation is being replaced by other methods, but it still added to herring, cucumbers and mushrooms.

Doctors and nutritionists everywhere are calling for limiting the intake of sodium chloride. General requirements for this compound is approx. 5 g / day, which is equal to 1 teaspoon of salt. This amount is often exceeded by us, our data shows that in Poland salt intake is 15 g / day, three times higher than normal. Please note that the sodium we consume not only when we add salt to food. Many foods are rich in this compound and completely covers the needs of our body.

Frequent consumption of salt above the norm leads to serious consequences. As it is shown by numerous surveys, the salt can lead to elevated blood pressure and the development of hypertension. In addition, can affect left ventricular of heart remodeling and renal function.

A diet rich in fresh fruits and vegetables and lean meat, fully covers the needs of our body for sodium. Therefore, in order to not provide it in excess, in addition to the kitchen salt, we should also avoid salty snacks such as potato chips, sticks, nuts, smoked fish, meats and cheeses.

How to make our dishes tasty, despite the lack of salt?

We have various herbs and blends that are on sale. Herbs can not only enrich the taste and flavour of the dishes, but many of them also has a beneficial effect on our body. For example basil works antispasmodic, improving digestion, and oregano has a bactericidal and anti-inflammatory properties. Herbs should therefore be in our kitchens, thanks to them, will gain a new flavour. But what is new, it seems more attractive. So not only our health will gain, but also the palate.

Personally, I recommend you try to reduce the salt. For a while I did not use salt at all and improved blood circulation to me, and I have lost a few pounds.

Warming pumpkin soup

For a windy, rainy day I would highly recommend the spicy pumpkin soup. The addition of ginger, chilli and garlic makes the dish heats, and nice orange color  makes optimistic.

Ingredients (5-6 portions):

pumpkin weighing about 1-1.5 kg (weight with the seeds and skin)
5 medium sized potatoes
piece of ginger (2-3 cm)
1 chilli
2 cloves of garlic
water
a pinch of dried thyme
soy sauce
salt
tablespoon oil
Preparation:

Wash the pumpkin, hollow, cut into smaller pieces and peel. Then cut it into cubes. Wash potatoes, peel, cut into cubes also. Ginger grate or finely cut, crush the garlic and cut into small cubes. Deprive chili seeds and cut into strips.
Warm up the spoon in the pot of oil. Throw ginger, garlic and chili. Fry briefly to release the aroma. Then we throw potatoes and pumpkin. Pour water up to the vegetables, season with thyme, salt and soy sauce. You can also use the universal spice broth or ankles. Boil about 20 minutes, until soft vegetables. The whole mixes, we try and if necessary even seasoned. If someone likes can serve it with cream, but I assure you that this is a good in itself.

Enjoy your meal!
